Highland Gathering
Had a fantastic nights sleep in the ‘Studio’, and only got up about 10.15am. Discovered how good Crunchy Nut is. Walked down to the local markets where Sam nearly lost his keys in a box of kids plastic toys, and I was taken aback by how popular Gary Ablett is. Then we went along to the Highland Gathering, a very peculiar experience to see so many kilts and hear the pipes on the wrong side of the world. Queued for about half an hour (no exaggeration) for a Bratwurst (it was worth it), watched the haggis toss, browsed the merch stalls, bought the biggest ice cream ever made, and watched the pipe bands compete, followed by the mass band. Good experience!
Back at Sam’s he showed me the videos of some of Avocados performances-they’re really very good. Then we popped out for a pizza for tea. Gail had got a chocolate mould in the shape of a Scottie, and we demolishes ‘Maggie’, once we managed to get it out! It had a caramel centre and was delicious! Can’t remember why, but Sam had me laughing so hard I was crying! I texted Fi that, and she called! I chatted to her for about 10 minutes, then Sam spoke to her for about an hour! Lovely!
Monday was another relaxed start, and we took Maggie down to the waterfront. Saw lots of the painted bollards, a pelican, and ate icecream. Sam got dimmies on the way home, which were good! Watched a few episodes of Fawlty Towers, then Sam showed me how the recording equipment worked, and recorded me playing-so cool!
Quick dinner with nana, and Sam and I went to drive to Melbourne-managed to get lost and asked a lovely lady who actually went and found out for us! Caught the train to Watsonia and Carolyn picked me up. Amazing how generous and hospitible people are. Had a great chat with her and her parents, and slept like a log.
